Introduces
Renewable Energy Tax Package
This week I led efforts to craft a bipartisan renewable energy
tax package. My legislation encourages the development of renewable
energy and expands energy efficiency in buildings, homes, and
appliances, while also stimulating the economy. I brought together
my colleagues from both sides of the aisle to break the stalemate
and to work together to decrease our nation’s dependency
on foreign energy sources and to expand the availability of
renewable energy sources including solar, wind, and geothermal.

Recognizes
Recipients of Fund for Veterans’ Scholarship
It is a great honor for me to congratulate three University
of Nevada Las Vegas scholars whose academic achievements have
been recognized through the Fund for Veterans’ Education
scholarship. The Fund for Veteran’s Education was established
to provide scholarships to veterans of all branches of the United
States Armed Forces who have served in Iraq or Afghanistan.
Our country will be forever indebted to the sacrifices and bravery
displayed by the members of our armed forces, and this scholarship
opportunity is
a small way of saying thank you to our veterans. I am very proud
of these Nevada scholarship recipients and of all our men and
women serving in the military.
Discusses Legislation Priorities with Nevada Cattlemen
This week I sat down with members from the Nevada Cattlemen’s
Association. This nonprofit trade association seeks to promote
the Nevada Beef Industry, and during this meeting we discussed
managing public lands. I enjoy the opportunities I have to meet
with this group and look forward to continuing to increase the
role they play in our state and nation’s beef industry
